However classification averages will be computed only after the total score for a tournament or league has been posted and, therefore, the average may be based on a greater number of shots, but will not be based upon a lesser number. Total scores so reported to the NRA will be posted to the Classification Record for the competitor concerned. When the scores for the stated minimum of 360 shots (or more if this minimum is reached during the scores of any tournament or league) have been so posted, the average score per 10 shot string will be computed. The competitor will be sent an Official NRA Classification Card based on the average so computed and according to the table in Rule 19.15, which classification will become effective the date shown on the card issued by NRA.

Classification

Percentage

30 shots

60 shots

90 shots

180 shots

270 shots

High Master

97+

291+

582+

873+

1746+

2619+

Master

95.0-96.99

285-290

570-581

855-872

1710-1745

2565-2618

Expert

90-94.99

270-284

540-569

810-855

1620-1709

2430-2564

Sharpshooter

85-89.99

255-269

510-539

765-809

1530-1619

2295-2429

Marksman

Under 85

254

509

764

1530

2294

IRGC Adminhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10376550101593585275noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8478669478639529287.post-19092187957622177922009-12-31T12:29:00.000-08:002009-12-31T16:19:47.532-08:00Pistol Group AnalysisShot group analysis allows you to determine what you are doing wrong in your shooting. Don't look at this as a negative exercise; this is an opportunity to diagnose a problem. With a sound diagnosis, you can determine a course of action to remedy it.

The following assume a right handed, right eye dominant shooter. For left-handed shooter, reverse the groups. Pay attention to groups, not individual shots.

No Group - Scattered Placement

Possible Causes
1. All problems are evident, nothing specific stands out.
2. Start with natural point of aim, then grip and squeeze the trigger.

Vertical Center Placement

Possible Causes
1. Weak shoulder muscles.
2. Swaying forward and backward causing vertical patterns.
3. Breathing while aiming and firing.

Right Horizontal Placement

Possible Causes
1. Applying extra pressure with thumb.
2. Poor sight alignment, sight is centered but to right of target.

Horizontal Center Placement

Possible Causes
1. Poor stance, resulting in bad natural point of aim.
2. Poor hand grip, resulting in bad natural point of aim.
3. Poor stance, resulting in body sway to the right and left.

Low Right Placement

Possible Causes
1. Snatching the trigger, pulling it and the gun to the right.
2. Slackening the wrist while the pistol fires.

Low Center Placement

Possible Causes
1. Poor concentration.
2. Poor follow through, lowering gun before the shot is away.
3. Poor sight alignment, sight is centered, but too low on target.

High Center Placement

Possible Causes
1. Heeling; applies pressure with the heel of the hand while the pistol fires.
2. Breaking wrist up, pulling pistol up.
3. Poor sight alignment, sight is centered, but too high on target.

Left Horizontal Placement

Possible Causes
1. Increasing grip pressure while shot breaks, bending wrist to left.
2. Relaxing elbow while the shot breaks.
3. Poor sight alignment, sight is centered, but to left of target.

Low Horizontal Left

Possible Causes
1. Pushing the rigger, moving it and the gun to the left.
2. Poor sight alignment, sight alignment is somewhat low and left of target.
3. Applying extra pressue with fingertips and/or pinkie.

High Right Placement

Possible Causes
1. Slackening the wrist while the pistol fires.
2. Heeling; applies pressure with the heel of the hand while the pistol fires.
3. Anticipating recoil.

Low Left Placement

Possible Causes
1. Jerking; applies excessive pressure to trigger, pushing it down and to the left.
2. Canting the pistol to the left and dropping the barrel.IRGC Adminhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10376550101593585275noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8478669478639529287.post-11579843435339126362009-12-29T10:02:00.000-08:002009-12-29T10:05:58.320-08:00IRGC HistoryClub History

National Championship Awards

State Championship Awards

IRGC League AwardsIRGC Adminhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10376550101593585275noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8478669478639529287.post-86759335819815962842009-12-21T19:15:00.001-08:002009-12-26T12:42:55.827-08:00IRGC Range RulesSafety Rules

No one is permitted forward of the firing line until all guns are unloaded, with actions open and laying safely on the shooting bench.

Handling of guns behind the firing line is not allowed when shooters are at the firing line or down range.

Keep all firearms pointed down range at all times.

Always make sure no one is down range before handling firearms on the firing line.

Eye and ear protection "MUST" be worn by shooters and spectators at all times.

The following handgun calibers are allowed at the Iowa River Gun Club range.
